How to play Phasmophobia in VR

Immerse yourself in horror.
This article is over 4 years old and may contain outdated information

Phasmophobia is a horror-filled game hit because of how terrifying the ghosts and demons are, players have to identify and how simple the gameplay is. Players have to work together to figure out what kind of ghost is haunting the property and make it out before things go south. While many players are likely experiencing the game from their PC on their computer screen, Phasmophobia does have an option for you to hook up your VR equipment and immerse yourself in the experience.

Phasmophobia uses the Steam VR support platform. You can play it using any these headsets.

  • HTC Vive
  • Oculus Rift
  • Valve Index
  • Windows Mixed Reality

You can use motion controllers while standing to operate your character, or you can choose to use a controller to sit down, but keep your headset on to fully immerse yourself. You can expect to use a full room to play the game for those who choose to play with motion-tracking controllers. When you enter the game on the main menu, you can find additional VR settings underneath the options tab on the whiteboard.

With VR hooked up, you can choose to play with your friends online, even if they don’t have a VR set. It won’t matter, so feel free to play with your friends or jump into an available lobby room if there’s one available. While playing in VR, make sure you have enough space to move around, even if you’re only moving your head from side to side to look around a room. Also, you probably don’t want anything that might spill onto the floor that you could knock down after you jump from hearing or seeing a ghost in Phasmophobia.
