How to search the area and raise exploration level in Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin

Finding your way.

One of your earliest tasks in Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin can be a little confusing. The game asks you to search the area and raise the exploration level, without really hinting at what this means. In this guide, we will tell you what you need to do.

The first thing to do is hit the + button to bring up the main menu, then hit the X button to open the world map. Select “Yes” to return to the world map and you will see your home, surrounded by small brown circles. These all represent an area that you can explore.

If you click on any of the available areas, you will see a list of exploration objectives that are tied to that area. These can include finding resources, making it to certain points in the dungeon, killing a set number of enemies, or finding certain items.

As you finish up these challenges, the exploration percentage for that particular area will increase and your overall exploration rank will improve. This will also cause new areas to open up, allowing you to increase your exploration level enough and move on to the next step.

You can also find new areas hidden away as a form of secret entrance in some of the dungeons. There is no real marker in the game for these, you just need to explore the dungeons fully, and make sure you move through each and every tunnel to be sure you haven’t missed a secret loading screen.
