FIFA 21 comes out for the next-generation consoles tomorrow, December 4. Gamers who purchased the game for the PlayStation 4 or Xbox One will be able to upgrade this game to the next console for free. Some gamers may be wondering if the progress they have made in the original version of the game will be transferred over.
How to play on next-gen consoles
If you purchased FIFA 21 digitally from the PlayStation or Xbox stores, all you have to do is find the game on either platform with the originally purchased account. Once you find the FIFA 21 page, you will be given a prompt to download it. If you have a physical copy, follow the same steps with the game in your disc drive.
Transferring your data
Thanks to the use of cloud sync, your data will remain with your respective Xbox and PlayStation account. When loading into the new game with an internet connection, your account should automatically download data from the previous console’s progress.
However, it is important to note that the only data that will transfer over is your FIFA Ultimate Team and your Volta avatar’s progression. All other data, including Career mode, Solo and Co-op Seasons, Pro Clubs, and more, will be reset along with the new console.
