The five-player horror game, Dead by Daylight capitalizes on the feeling of being alone and unable to speak with your teammates, which is why there is no voice chat. The main form of communication is the text chat in both the pre-game and post-game lobbies. Recently the development team at Behaviour Interactive rolled out a new profanity chat filter that targets racist, sexist, or offensive comments.
If you are looking to turn on this filter, there is no need to worry as it is already implemented. However, if you are looking to turn off this option, you are out of luck. Currently, there is no way to turn off this filter. Behaviour Interactive has stated that this feature will continue to evolve over time, which may make this feature optional.
Despite the game’s rating as Mature, the chat filters are put in place to prevent abuse against other players to create a healthier gaming community. As stated in a recent blog post, these types of comments “do not have a place within our game, or community.”
If you are looking to truly express yourself with an unfiltered vocabulary, you may want to take your speech to Discord, which is the better method of communicating with your teammates anyway.
