Is Ampharos good in Pokémon Go?

Should you consider using it?

Ampharos is not the most powerful Pokémon in Pokémon Go. It doesn’t have the best stats, and you want to use it in certain situations. For example, you’ll likely be using it in the Ultra League or the Master League Premier Cup, or against specific Pokémon in five-star raids. But that doesn’t mean you should dismiss it. It can transform into its Mega-Evolved form, Mega Ampharos, and if you give it the correct moveset in its normal form, you can do some solid work in the game. We also listed out the best moveset for Mega Ampharos.

Ampharos is an Electric-type Pokémon. It’s weak to Ground-type moves, but it’s resistant to Electric, Flying, and Steel-type attacks. For PvP, it has a maximum CP of 2,852, an attack of 178, a defense of 145, and a stamina of 175. In PvE, it has an attack of 211, a defense of 169, and a stamina for 207. It’s mega form, Mega Ampharos, has a maximum CP of 4,245, an attack of 244, a defense of 172, and a stamina of 175.

When it comes to PvP, you want to consider catching one of the shadow versions of it. This way, it’ll be able to output more damage, and you can reliably fight against most other trainers. A shadow version is only slightly better than the standard Ampharos, so you should expect to use it in PvP still if you have a standard one. Of the leagues and various cups, try to use it in the Premier Cup for the Ultra and Master League. It’s a great option.

Because Ampharos can evolve into its Mega Ampharos form, it’s also a solid Pokémon raid option. You’ll be able to roll around with it in raids to take out some of the stronger ones, such as Suicine, Kyogre, Ho-Oh, Lugia, Zapdos, and several others. When Mega-Evolved Pokémon can be used in the Master League, it’ll be a decent choice, but it won’t win against Groudon, Zekrom, Dialga, Mamoswine, Dragonite, Mewtwo, or Swampert.

Overall, Ampharos is a great Pokémon to have in your roster. You’ll have to use it in specific situations and consider your teams when utilizing it. Still, if you can pair it with a good team to protect it against Ground-type Pokémon in the Premier Cups for the Ultra and Master Leagues, you’ll find victory plenty of times and rank up.
