After you complete your first playthrough, you may want to replay it using all of your upgraded weapons, collected items, and more. Unfortunately, there is not a traditional New Game Plus game type available after you beat Resident Evil 3. That may come as a disappointment to some, but that doesn’t mean there is no reason to replay Resident Evil 3.

If your first playthrough was completed on one of the easier difficulties, you can try your hand at beating Resident Evil 3 on a higher difficulty level. Standard and Hardcore modes are available if you selected Assisted difficulty to begin with. If you beat the game on Hardcode mode, you will unlock Nightmare difficulty. Complete that, and you’ll unlock the Inferno difficulty option too.

Replaying Resident Evil 3 on any of these higher difficulties allows you to use anything you’ve unlocked from the main menu shop too. Infinite ammo weapons, the lock pick, bolt cutters, and more are at your fingertips in any new playthrough. In that respect, Resident Evil 3 does have a New Game Plus mode—just not the one we’re all used to.
