There’s a confirmed roster for Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3, with the potential for additional characters to show up before the game’s official release.
There was a significant amount of news surrounding Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order, where GameInformer talked about the game’s mechanics and the driving story behind the project. However, one of the more compelling announcements surrounding the game were the details regarding the game’s roster. Players are going to have the chance to build a four-person team of their favorite superheroes, and now we can talk about the options presently available.
Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3 Character Roster
Playable Heroes
All of the characters listed here are going to be playable by the player. In Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3, players are going to make a four-player composition of their favorite superheroes. These compositions are going to have to balance out the team’s damage, healing, and likely one of the heroes is going to need to be able to taunt the enemies to protect the squishier members.
Here are the characters shared so far:
- Black Panther
- Black Widow
- Captain America
- Captain Marvel
- Crystal and Lockjaw (one character)
- Daredevil
- Deadpool
- Doctor Strange
- Drax
- Falcon
- Gamora
- Groot and Rocket (one character)
- Hawkeye
- Hulk
- Iron Fist
- Iron Man
- Ms. Marvel
- Nightcrawler
- Scarlet Witch
- Spider-Gwen
- Spider-Man (Miles Morales)
- Spider-Man (Peter Parker)
- Star-Lord
- Storm
- Thor
- Venom
- Wasp
- Wolverine
For those who more accustomed to watching the Marvel movies, some of these characters may look a little strange to you. For example, Hawkeye in this game seems nothing Jeremy Renner’s version, as he’s wearing his classic purple outfight, with red goggles. Same for Wolverine, as he’s wearing his blue and yellow uniform that many are going to recognize from the 90s X-men animation cartoon.
The developers, Team Ninja, are working closely with the Marvels Game team as they attempt to keep Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3’s story close to the comics, but it’ll mix in some of the lore from the movies, too. There are no concrete details on how they’re going to tackle this particular challenge, as the Marvel comics are a completely different beast from the movies.
Villians
The villains in the story matter just as much as the heroes, as these are the ones players are going to find themselves facing off against in the game. The main villains of this game, though, are going to be Thanos and his Black Order, as this game centers around the infinity stones. It’s safe to assume any Marvel story that involves the infinity stones will have Thanos following close behind, as he’s always attempting to get his hands on them.
Here are the villains players are going to face off against:
- Ultron
- Green Goblin
- Sandman
- Kingpin
- Sentinels
- Ronan, the Accuser
- Ultimo
- Nebula
- Surtur
These villains are going to serve as bosses for the player to best as they make their way through the game. Thanos and his Black Order are likely going to be the game’s final challenges, but we may learn more as we approach the game’s official release
You’ll have the chance to play Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order later this year on July 19, exclusively for the Nintendo Switch.
