Red Dead Redemption 2 is almost upon us, and it’s time to get reminded of everything that has happened so far. The timing of Red Dead Redemption 2 is unique in the sense that it precedes the events of Red Dead Redemption but occurs after the events of Rockstar Games’ first title in the series, Red Dead Revolver. The best way to get caught up on the story of those two titles is by watching the excellent video recap created by PlayStation Grenade, which we’ve conveniently embedded for you below.

Red Dead Revolver was the first title in the series, released by Rockstar Games in 2004 for PlayStation 2 and Xbox. It takes place in the 1880s and follows the story of Red Harlow, a name that is later mentioned in Red Dead Redemption and may or may not come up in Red Dead Redemption 2.

Red Dead Redemption was released in 2010 for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. The game tells the story of John Marston and his desire to leave his criminal lifestyle behind. The events take place in 1911 and, in many ways, describes the conclusion of the lives of many prominent characters we will encounter in Red Dead Redemption 2.

How will Red Dead Redemption 2 fill the gap between Red Dead Revolver and Red Dead Redemption? We’ll have to wait until it releases on October 26, but at least now you’re caught up on what has happened before and after and you’ll be able to make the most out of your time in the wild west.
