Remnant: From The Ashes is filled with weapons and armor for you to find. If you find a set of armor or a weapon you like, you want to upgrade it to make it as powerful as you can. To do this, you need the different types of iron that you can find in the game. Thankfully, in the early game, Iron is not that rare. So you can experiment with different weapons to upgrade the ones you like.

Remnant: From The Ashes – Where To Get All Iron Types (Forged, Galvanized, Hardened)

You can get Iron from killing enemies, opening crates found in the world, and sometimes you will even find it just sitting on a broken wall or in the corner of a room. It is essential to search each area you visit entirely to locate as much Iron you can find.

As you progress deeper into the game, the types of Iron that you find will begin to change. You’re going to find Forged Iron, then Galvanized, and lastly Hardened Iron. The good news is that the other Iron types continue to drop, allowing you to keep upgrading weapons without needing to go back and grind earlier areas.

You will need the different Iron types to upgrade your gear to different levels:

  • Iron – Level 0-5
  • Forged Iron – Level 5-10
  • Galvanized Iron – Level 10-15
  • Hardened Iron – 15-20

The great news is that there is also an NPC that gives you different types of Iron for Scrap. Ace, the NPC you help with the generator at the start of the game, begins to stock the different types of Iron as you encounter them in the game. Once you reach a point where you can find Forged Iron, she has it in stock, and so on. As such, if you need just a couple of pieces to get that next upgrade, you can head over to Ace and grab them, then go back to Rigs for the upgrade.
