Risk of Rain 2 has been available for PC and console players for the better part of a year, but the game has been in early access. Since it first launched, developer Hoppo Games has released several content updates every few months introducing new mechanics, survivors, and new ways to play the game. The next big update to the game is the official 1.0 release for the game.
Hoppo Games has updated its roadmap to reflect this release date. Risk of Rain 2 players can expect to see the game’s official release sometime in August for PC players. Unfortunately, those on consoles are a little bit behind, but not by much. The updated roadmap unveils that console players will receive the Artifacts update sometime in June, and the official 1.0 release is coming sometime during fall 2020.
The big 1.0 update for PC will give players access to a new survivor to unlock, a final stage, a final boss, and an array of new items to use during their adventures. The official release of Risk of Rain 2 is taking the developers longer than they initially anticipated, but they want to ensure players have the best experience with the full game and to ensure it meets all expectations.
You can update 1.0 to also have several quality of life changes, especially to the online experience. Hoppo Games will address the quality of Quickplay matches, such as having players leaving, and some have extraordinarily high ping. PC players can look forward to a new online experience with the official launch of the game.
You can jump into Risk of Rain 2 right now before the game officially releases by picking it up on Steam, or by grabbing it on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, or Nintendo Switch.
