How to Kill 20 hermit crabs by chasing them off the edge of the map in Risk of Rain 2

Prepare for a long grind to complete this challenge. “The Demon and the Crabs” beckons.

Another day, another challenge to complete in Risk of Rain 2 to try and unlock new items to use in-game during your next suicide run.

The challenge (or achievement depending on who you ask) known as “The Demon and the Crabs” asks players to kill 20 Hermit Crabs by knocking them off of the edge of the map. Sounds simple enough, right?

It is pretty simple, if not a bit too grindy for our liking. In a normal playthrough, you might only see a Hermit Crab in the lava maps which doesn’t have a drop kill zone to exploit, however. Instead, you need to head to the Titanic Plains level after you have looped through all the maps once. The level won’t change but the creatures that inhabit it will do.

It’s best to sit in an area near the drop zone and start attacking waves of enemies. Sooner or later a Hermit Crab will start spitting boulders at you. When that happens, approach them until they start running away from you and lead them to an edge. If they don’t move, attack them once to scare them to do so.

After doing this 20 times, you’ll unlock the achievement and add another new item to your ever-growing arsenal.
