Yes, it is a great fighting game with solid mechanics but Mortal Kombat is also a gore-fest. There is no point in trying to dress it up any other way. For some of us, the Fatalities were cool in the original Mortal Kombat and they are cool in the most recent edition, Mortal Kombat 11.
In this article, we will be ranking the ten best Mortal Kombat 11 Fatalities, and showing you how to do them. It is important to note that this list is entirely arbitrary. It is to our personal taste, and you may have different Fatalities that you prefer. This is absolutely fine, as Mortal Kombat 11 has enough misplaced organs to appeal to everyone.
The below list will provide, gore, body horror, and even a degree of humor if you can look at the funny side of life. There are some classic Mortal Kombat characters and some cinematic crossovers that you just love to see.
The 10 Best Mortal Kombat Fatalities
#10 – Kitana’s Gore-Nado
Starting things off is Kitana’s rather graceful attempt to make an organ smoothie. A surgical slice of her bladed fans gives enough space for her to extract the body’s blood and wobbly bits by spinning majestically in the air, causing a swirling vortex of gore. It’s unique, that much is certain.
How to do it: At mid range, press Down, Down, Down, Down + Back Punch.
#9 – Robocop’s Dead or Alive
This one could just be called “Dead”, as there are not many people who could make it through this and live. After a quick stab to the neck, the metallic municipal servant blows off his enemy’s hand, then calls in ED-209 to help him out. While the mechanical monster lets rip with his autocannons, Robocop picks up a massive sniper rifle, hip firing a round that splits his opponent in two. Book ’em, boys.
How to do it: At close range, press Back, Forward, Down, Down, Back Punch.
#8 – Frost’s Ice Sculpture
Murdering other fighters doesn’t have to be all about gore, it can also be about art. Frost proves this by drilling two great big holes in her opponent before throwing an explosive ice core inside. The resulting twisted mess of flesh and ice speaks deeply about the struggle of the fighting class, the fragility of the human condition, and why human bodies look absolutely freaky when you blast them into weird shapes.
How to do it: At close range, pess Forward, Back, Down + Front Punch.
#7 – Kronika
While you cannot play as Kronika, and from what we can tell her Fatality doesn’t have a name, it is still amazing. Kronika picks up her enemies with the might of her magic, then rips them in half. She puts them back together and splits them down the middle. Then she puts them back together and peels them like a grape. And it goes on like this, we assume, forever. How ghastly.
#6 – Scorpion’s You’re Next
There is something to be said for turning yourself into a creature of pure fire, diving through your opponent’s stomach, then chopping their head off, kicking it through the air, and finally catching it on the spike of your thrown chain. The thing to be said is that it looks cool.
How to do it: From far away, press Back, Down, Down + Front Punch.
#5 – Erron Black’s Melted
This one is more stylish than gory, and as it involves a head exploding, that is saying something. Black throws a vile of acid on the floor, then shoots the legs out from under his opponent, pressing their head into the caustic goo before finally stomping it into oblivion. The boy has anger issues, but he appears to have at least developed a way to work them out.
How to do it: From mid range, press Down, Down, Down + Front Punch.
#4 – Baraka’s Rock, Paper, Baraka
Nobody ever challenges Baraka to games of chance like this, because he always wins. A quick double stab and slice to remove both arms, then a stylish snip sends the head skyward. That is not enough for Baraka, who also feels the need to slice the head in half, and then skewer both pieces on his blades. Showoff.
How to do it: From close range, press Back, Forward, Back + Front Kick.
#3 D’Vorah’s New Species
Yes, gore is terrifying at times, but body horror is a whole different thing. It’s one thing to see a character die horribly, and something else entirely to see them being rendered down into a host for some kind of hideous monster. This one harkens back to the very best work of John Carpenter, and that is never a bad thing.
How to do it: From close range, press Back, Forward, Back + Front Kick.
#2 – Geras’ Phasing Through
While I am pretty sure having this opinion would make people judge me, there are elements of slapstick comedy to this one that just make it stand out. While the devs were obviously aiming for the gross factor, literally slapping someone’s face off is actually just hilarious, and a worthy addition to the list.
How to do it: From anywhere, press Back, Down, Down + Front Kick.
#1 Terminator’s Target Terminated
Whilst I am aware this might be controversial, there is something so over the top and ludicrous about this one that it just had to get the number one spot. First of all, it’s Arnie. Second, it’s a massive crossover. Third, he sends his enemies hurtling through time, after blowing their legs off with a shotgun, to eventually get finished off by other Terminators. Can you imagine the intense power consumption and high risk of paradox every time he does this? Truly over the top in a way that only The Governator can be.
How to do it: From mid range, press Down, Forward, Down, Back Kick.
And there you have it, the 10 best Fatalities in Mortal Kombat 11, and how to do them. It’s certainly quite the list, proving once and for all the games are definitely art. Right?
