Total War: Three Kingdoms – Minimum and Recommended System Requirements

This article is over 5 years old and may contain outdated information

With the new Total War: Three Kingdoms on the horizon, it’s time to take a look at exactly how beefy your system will need to be to run it.

Total War: Three Kingdoms is due to release on May 23, so now is a good time to check how well your PC will be able to run the game. The game will bring the usual blend of diplomacy, strategy, and epic battles to a particularly fractured period of Chinese history, and it will be up to you to attempt to unite the country under a single banner.

Developers Creative Assembly has been kind enough to provide players with a range of different specs, and what you can expect to achieve with them. Large battles in Total War games can be quite challenging, so it is very helpful that they have listed the expected results during battles containing up to 42 units between both sides.

There is some good news as well, as this game will come with Temporal Anti-Aliasing (TAA) instead of Multi-Sample Anti-Aliasing (MSAA) due to its increased performance benefits. They will be keeping Fast Approximate Anti-Aliasing for people who need a more performance efficient AA option, though it lacks the visual cleanness of TAA.

This does mean that Three Kingdoms will not be supporting multi-GPU rendering, as TAA is not compatible with it. With those little details out of the way, let’s have a loot at the minimum and recommended specs.
