Warframe – How To Get A Perfect Animal Capture

Easy peasy.
This article is over 4 years old and may contain outdated information

Capturing animals has been a part of Warframe since the Fortuna update arrived. With the recent Plains of Eidolon remaster, we can now capture animals on the Plains as well. For this week’s Nightwave Challenges, Nora Night wants us to get a perfect animal capture six times.

What Is A Perfect Animal Capture

A perfect animal capture is when you track, and capture, the animal without it seeing or smelling you at all. To get a perfect animal capture, the animal needs to be completely unaware that anyone was trying to capture it. As such, it may not see you or hear you.

The easiest way to get a perfect animal capture is to use a Warframe that has some stealth capability. Ivara is the best choice, but if you don’t have her, you will want to use a Loki or an Ash. Make sure you mod them for Duration, to stay invisible for as long as possible. Another reason why Ivara is good for this Challenge is that you can actually use her Sleep Arrow to put the animals to sleep on a direct hit, and not interfere with the Perfect rating. All you need to do is track the animal by finding its droppings. To do this, you need to have your Tranq Rifle equipped; then the various dropping locations will populate on the map. You can see them marked on the map below with the small blue icon.

Go to one of them, and interact with it. Follow the tracks until you find the animal nest, and then take out the Echo Lure for that animal. Use the lure to attract the animal, and when it has been successful make sure you instantly go invisible. Ivara very long invisibilty timer is the reason she is so good for this challenge, as it could take a minute for the animal to arrive.

Now, watch the minimap as the animal will show up on it. When it does, move towards it slowly and use the Tranq Rifle to put it to sleep, then interact with it to have the floating robot come in and take it away. As long as the animal didn’t see you, you will have performed a perfect animal capture and should get one step close to completing the Challenge.

An important thing to note here is that even though some animals, like Pobblers, travel in groups, you can only get one perfect animal capture from them. This is because when the first animal is put to sleep, the others will realize that someone is there, so will become alert to your presence. They won’t be able to see you, but they will still be aware that you are there.

Using a stealth frame cuts out the need to try and deal with the animal seeing, or smelling you. If you don’t use one, you need to pay attention to the grass and leaves around you and make sure you are not approaching the animal from downwind.

Where To Get A Tranq Rifle And Echo Lure

For newer players, you may be wondering where to get a Tranq Rifle and Echo Lure. These can be purchased from The Business at Fortuna, or Master Teasonai at Cetus. You do not need the Echo Lure to hunt on the Plains of Eidolon. I would actually suggest doing this challenge on Orb Vallis instead, as the increased structure of the conservation system there makes it easier to get a perfect animal capture.
