There are a number of ways in which you can communicate with a ghost in Phasmophobia. You can use an ouija board or just speak in the voice chat. Alternatively, you can also speak to the spirit box. To speak using the spirit box, you need to first place it in a dark room with the ghost inside it. While it might not respond to all questions, you have to keep trying to get a positive response.

If you are looking to communicate with the ghost in-game via the spirit box, you can speak the following phrases in the spirit box to receive a response. Depending on what type of question you ask, you will get a specific type of response from the ghost.

Difficulty Questions

Difficulty questions help in knowing whether the ghost is about to start a hunt or not. It might respond with words like kill, death, or attack, indicating that it is about to go into the hunting phase. Alternatively, it can also some utter letters such as “E” at times, which means it wants to say leave, again indicated towards the start of a hunt.
