Devil May Cry 5 Special Edition, a port of the latest entry in Capcom’s long-running franchise, was announced during September’s PlayStation 5 event. The hack-and-slash action game was originally released on PC, PS4, and Xbox One in March 2019, but it’s getting a new life on next-gen consoles.
The improved version of Devil May Cry 5 is launching on PS5, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S, but when is its release date?
Devil May Cry 5 Special Edition will be available on November 12 on PS5. That makes it a launch title for gamers based in North America, Mexico, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, and South Korea. The PS5 launches in these countries and regions first, and in the rest of the world on November 19. Devil May Cry 5 Special Edition will also be available to purchase as a launch title for these other world regions, but its official release will have been a week earlier.
As for Xbox Series X and Series S, Devil May Cry 5 Special Edition will be available as a launch title too. The official DMC Twitter account revealed that this edition is available “day 1 on next-gen”. That means it will be released on Microsoft’s next-gen platforms on November 10, when Series X and Series S launch.
It’s worth knowing that Devil May Cry 5 Special Edition will only be available to buy digitally at launch for either next-gen console. In a separate tweet, Capcom revealed that physical ports of the game will be available at a later date.
There’s no word on whether Devil May Cry 5 Special Edition will come to PC. However, given that Vergil will be offered as paid DLC for PC later, it seems unlikely. If that changes, we will update this guide.
