Where to find the lockpick and open simple locks in Resident Evil 3 Remake

A delicate touch.
This article is over 4 years old and may contain outdated information

As you play through the early stages of Resident Evil 3 Remake, you will find a lot of lockers, containers, and doors that you can’t get through. This is because you need a lockpick to get past them and get at the sweet loot inside.

Getting the lockpick takes a little bit of work, but you will eventually get to it by playing through the campaign and knowing where to look. When you meet up with Carlos, he will ask you to head to the substation to get power up and running in the subway. To do this, you will first need to find a fire hose to get through the alley fire that is blocking your path.

Once you have that done, you will find a safe room. Grab the bolt cutters here, as they are vital, then use them on the locked red door. You’ll find a friendly NPC on the other side, and some story things will happen. When that is over, head up the stairs and follow the path all the way around. Take out any zombies you find, then head upstairs again to the control room. There is a door at the far end, and this leads back down to an outside area.

Lockpick location

There will be some rather horrifying things growing around this area, and you will be able to see a body at the far end of a fence. Walk to it and pick up the box it is holding. Inspect the box in your inventory, and you will find that it contains the lockpick that you need.

Lockpick

Now, it’s a good idea to double back through the areas you were already in, lockpicking everything you had to walk past the first time and grabbing up all kinds of useful items and ammo.
