Stark Krakatoa

Where to get the Stark Krakatoa in Borderlands 3

King of the snipers.
This article is over 4 years old and may contain outdated information

The Stark Krakatoa in Borderlands 3 is, in our opinion, the best Sniper Rifle in the game. It hits incredibly hard, and after a small amount of time to spool up, it fires incredibly fast. There are various weapons in the game that can match its ridiculous levels of damage, and it’s a joy to use and meltdown enemies.

What makes the weapons so strong is that it has huge innate damage, combined with that speedy rate of fire, and it also tends to roll with incredibly high damage modifiers. You can see in the image below. Ours rolled out with a +321 percent damage buff.

The Stark Krakatoa can drop from any loot source in the game. While this sounds like a good thing, it’s a pain if you want to farm for it specifically. Because it is in a massive shared loot pool, the chance of it dropping is reasonably low.

The good news right now is that the Loot the Universe event has made this weapon easier to get. During Loot the Universe, different planets will have increased loot drops, with specific areas on those planets giving you specific types of loot.

For example, this week, the planet is Pandora. If you go to Ascension Bluff, you will notice that a huge amount of Legendary Sniper Rifles are currently dropping from enemies there. In one clear of the Mouthpiece boss fight, we had five Stark Krakatoas drop, so now is the time to farm that region and get your hands on this weapon.

If you want to know what weapons are dropping in other parts of Pandora, we have a guide for the locations. The affected planet will change each week, based on the timetable below.

  • Week 1 (9 AM PT April 23 to 8:59 AM PT April 30) – Pandora
  • Week 2 (9 AM PT April 30 to 8:59 AM PT May 7) – Promethea
  • Week 3 (9 AM PT May 7 to 8:59 AM PT May 14) – Eden-6
  • Week 4 (9 AM PT May 14 to 8:59 AM PT May 21) – Nekrotafeyo

Keep an eye on the site next week, as we will be doing guides to break down all the drops on each of the planets each week.
