Before the launch of NHL 21, EA Sports released ratings for the game’s top goalies. Several Vezina Trophy winners made the top 10, and the best goalie heading into NHL 21 is the netminder who helped lead the Tampa Bay Lightning to their second Stanley Cup championship in September: Andrei Vasilevskiy.
Top 10 goalies in NHL 21
Lightning goalie Andrei Vasilevskiy received a 91 OVR rating by EA Sports. The 2019 Vezina Trophy winner finished one point higher than Ducks netminder John Gibson (90 OVR), who is the second-highest rated goalie in NHL 21. Bruins goalie Tuukka Rask rounds out the top three, as he was also given a 90 OVR rating by the NHL team.

- Jacob Markstrom – 88 OVR
- Braden Holtby – 88 OVR
- Robin Lehner – 87 OVR
Five goalies received a 90 OVR or better rating, including Jets netminder and 2020 Vezina Trophy recipient Conor Hellebuyck.
Keep in mind that these ratings apply to most game modes, including Online Versus, local play, and Franchise mode. These ratings will not apply to Hockey Ultimate Team, as EA traditionally uses a different rating system for HUT.
