If you were excited to play Genshin Impact and have run face-first into a somewhat glacial download speed, then have no fear, as you are not alone. Unfortunately, there isn’t actually anything that you can do about it.
On PC, the problem specifically seems to be caused by the servers that players have to download the game from. The title is not available on Steam, Epic Games Store, or any other established launcher, and instead, you need to download the special miYoHo luancher for the game, then download the game files from their servers.
The game is already proving to be quite popular, and it would seem that there is a lot of strain on the servers right now. This wasn’t an issue over the weekend when players were preloading the game, so it just seems that there is a lot of traffic at the moment.
On PlayStation 4, even the preload was a slow process, so it’s no surprise that downloading the game on that platform is taking some time. This is just a constant issue with the PlayStation Network, which has never had particularly impressive download speeds.
Finally, we just checked the download speed on Android, and it was quite fast, so things on the Google Play Store seem to be holding up quite well, and we assume that the same can be said for Apple, as both services will be very used to dealing with peaks in traffic driven by the many successful games that people play on their mobile devices.
So, no matter what platform you are downloading from, you will be at the whim of the servers that you are connected to, unfortunatley. If you are suffering from a slow download time for Genshin Impact, all you can do is wait it out.
