F1 2020 provides what is arguably some of the best racing action in years, offering many new modes such as My Team, and some classic ones returning, such as split-screen multiplayer. There’s never been a better time to get back into the sport, and with the next generation of consoles on the horizon, the series under the stewardship of Codemasters will continue to go from strength-to-strength.
The next generation promises several improvements and innovations that will benefit the racing game genre immensely. Ultra-fast loading times gets you into the action almost instantly, and the extra competing power should allow for ray tracing and exceptional looking cars and scenery. The latest gameplay shown of Gran Turismo 7 coming to the PS5 has already demonstrated how good a racing game can look with the power of the next generation.
F1 2020 shows that there’s still plenty of fantastic racing action on current generation consoles, but will the game be coming to the next-gen platforms?
So far, there has been no indication that there will be a next-generation release. With there being at least a few more months before the launch of the new systems, there is still time for Codemasters to make it happen, but the F1 2020 season will almost certainly have ended, even with a shortened schedule.
This means that the most likely outcome is that the first installment of the franchise will be next year’s game, though there is still plenty of time for Codemasters to announce a next-gen version of this year’s title.
