With Galarian Pokémon coming to Pokémon Go during the Unova Champion Throwback Challenge week, many are excited to see the eighth generation of Pokémon becoming available, even if it’s for a limited time. Those who completed all of the Throwback Challenges each week, or purchase the Champion ticket, will have access to them in guaranteed encounters. One of the Pokémon coming with this wave is the Galarian form of Zigzagoon, which has a third evolution, Obstagoon. Will you be able to evolve it into an Obstagoon?
Right now, data mining efforts have not shed any light on properly answering this question. While previously up in the air, the Pokémon Go blog from June encourages trainers to evolve their Zigzagoon during the event.
We don’t know if it will be a straight evolution, or if trainers will have to use a Galar-based stone, like the Unova stone, which some Pokémon have to do if they want to evolve into their Unova-based evolution. We don’t know the exact details of how it will work, but developer Niantic does appear to reveal Obstagoon will be a reality for Pokémon Go players.
After the challenge, we don’t know when Galarian Zigzagoon will be available again. With Obstagoon being an available evolution for the Galarian Zigzagoon, we can expect to see additional chances for trainers to capture a Galarian Zigzagoon in the future through unique promotions and events.
