Will Ori and the Will of the Wisps come to Nintendo Switch?

Ori and the Will of the Wisps has released on Xbox One and PC, but will it ever come to Nintendo Switch?
This article is over 4 years old and may contain outdated information

Ori and the Will of the Wisps is the newest game from Moon Studios and Xbox Game Studios. It is the sequel to the 2015 game Ori and the Blind Forest. When that original game released, it was an Xbox One and PC exclusive but would release on Nintendo Switch in 2019.

As of this writing, there is no confirmation that Ori and the Will of the Wisps will release on Nintendo Switch. At launch, the sequel is once again exclusive to Xbox One and PC via Steam and the Windows Store.

Ori and the Blind Forest

According to Xbox Marketing Manager Aaron Greenberg, Moon Studios were the ones to push Ori and the Blind Forest to Nintendo Switch, and Microsoft was not planning it.

Ori is built by Moon Studios, which is an independent, external studio,” Greenberg told MCV. “They came to us with a desire to bring the original Ori to the Switch. We thought that made sense, and we’re happy to work with them to enable them to bring that to Switch.”

He continued by saying Microsoft was “focused on making games for our platforms, and we have no plans to expand our exclusive first-party games to any other consoles.”

Greenberg finished by stressing that Moon Studios is still an independent, external studio, so the chance of Will of the Wisps landing on Switch in the future is possible, just not currently planned.

Ori and the Blind Forest is not the only Xbox exclusive to release on the Nintendo Switch. Studio MDHR’s Cuphead eventually released on the hybrid console as well.
