Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2 brings back the classic skating game to modern consoles where players can grind halfpipe and attempt to grab all letters of the word S-K-A-T-E scattered across the map. The game was announced as exclusive reveal during the Summer Game Fest’s first live stream event, hosted by Geoff Keighley. Tony Hawk was there to talk about the game, and how many people had already approached him about the prospects of remastering these games so many times in the past.
The game will feature a variety of modern twists on the classic, but can players expect to enjoy split screen as they did back in the day?
Yes, you can. You can hop on the couch with your friends to power up a split screen game, similar to what you could do when the game initially launched in 1999. Not only can you play it in local co-op, but you can play it online as well, playing the different game modes with your friends on various consoles and enjoying the franchise like you could back when it first released.
You can play it on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC through the Epic Games Store when it does release. Tony Hawk Pro Skater 1+2 is a remaster of the game, but it’s a remake, due to the way it’s being redone from the ground up.
The game will be available in three different versions:
- There’s a classic version available for $39.99
- There’s a digital deluxe available with additional content and in-game gear for $49.99
- There’s a collector’s edition coming with all of the content from the digital deluxe, along with a limited run Birdhouse deck, which you can grab for $99.99
Everyone who purchases the preorder before the game’s release will have the chance to play an available demo for the game featuring Pro Skater‘s signature warehouse level before the game’s initial release date.
