Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Links: How to use and obtain Skill Chips

Let's go over Skill Chips.

Skill Chips are a fairly new addition to the game of Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Links. Added in 2019 by Konami, these special items allow players to acquire new skills. The addition of Skill Chips gave Duel Links players a second option, aside from random reward drops, to get new skills, but these items can be a bit confusing to new players. With that said, let’s go where you can use Skill Chips in Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Links, and how you can get them in the game.

Skill Chips for Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Links can be traded in at the Card Trader. To access the Card Trader, head to the Store area of any Duel Links world, and click on the yellow bubble icon.

Scroll to the left of the cards available, and you will see the yellow Skill icon. Here, you can trade in Skill Chips, Gold, and UR/SR Jewels to get new random skills as part of a Skill Lottery.

Traditionally, 100 Skill Chips will be required to obtain a Skill. The amount of Gold and Jewels, however, will depend on the number of remaining Skills your active character can have unlocked. The Skill Lottery yields a random Skill for your active character, so make sure that you have the correct character active before taking your chances at the Card Trader.

How to obtain Skill Chips

Now that you know what Skill Chips are and where these items can be used, let’s talk about how you can obtain these items. Skill Chips can primarily be obtained through special events. Skill Chips could be handed out either through cumulative Point rewards during events or from the Event Card Trader (who can be found in the Gate are) through trading in EX Jewels.
