An ex-Rockstar Games employee has revealed that Rockstar Games have been working on few GTA VI (GTA 6) ideas since 2012.
We all know Rockstar Games has quite biblic times to release new titles from its most beloved franchises, but this doesn’t mean they don’t start working on them as soon as they release new games from those popular IPs. For example, GTA 6 “ideas” have been in the works since 2012, as revealed six years ago by former Rockstar North president Leslie Benzies.
According to him, as recouped by British website Dream Team, in 2012 Benzies explained in an interview that at that time “we don’t know what GTA 6 will be, but we’ve got some ideas”. At the time, with GTA Online still up in the air and well distant from being the acclaimed success it is today, Rockstar Games was exploring the concept of reuniting all the locations from past Grand Theft Auto titles in one single, persistent world.
In particular, Benzies said he’d love to return to Vice City at some point, specifically as part of this comprehensive game world. “Of course at some point, we would like to have one big world containing all our cities and let the player fly between them and revisit their favorite areas,” he said. “In that context, re-imaging Vice City would be very interesting.”
It looks quite ambitious, of course, but we guess that – by the time we’ll see GTA 6 in the making – such an idea would be much more affordable than it was back in 2012.
