During a talk at DICE 2018, Uncharted 4 creative director Neil Druckmann provided the attendance with his vision about what an Uncharted movie should be, and particularly what it should not be when it drops at some point soon.

According to Neil Druckmann, at Naughty Dog ‘we’re not excited by a direct adaptation’ of the video games, which this way should not be turned into a movie. For example, the first Uncharted movie should not be a tie-in based on the first Uncharted game, and so on.

Druckmann Is Not Excited With Uncharted Movie Direct Adaption

Druckmann went on saying he’d rather enjoy a film based on a young Nathan Drake, perhaps a bit later than the levels where, in Uncharted 4, you play Nate’s childhood when he was in the orphanage with his brother Sam.

Probably he refers to something like the rebooted Tomb Raider, where you could play (and later see, as that adventure has been turned into a movie dropping early March 2018) as a young Lara Croft while embarking in her very first adventure.

Young Nathan Drake is set to be played by Spider-Man: Homecoming’s star Tom Holland, while Stranger Things’ director and executive producer Shawn Levy has been signed as the director as well. Sony Pictures hasn’t offered a tentative release date yet.
