According to CD Projekt Red, Cyberpunk 2077 is more ambitious than The Witcher 3. The studio used the term “True RPG” for Cyberpunk 2077.
In a recent discussion at Pareto Securities’ Gaming Seminar, CD Projekt RED CEO Adam Kicinski offered a few new statements about the much anticipated Cyberpunk 2077. While he didn’t give any clue about when we’ll be watching some new material like trailers or gameplay, we have a better idea about how the development process is shaping up.
According to Kicinski, the game is set to be “more ambitious” in comparison with The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. We don’t know precisely what this means, but most probably he refers to gameplay features and maybe the already rumored online/persistent component.
Cyberpunk 2077 “is our new Witcher 3, but even more ambitious”, and on top of that it maintains the vibe of a “true RPG” so we’re basically assured that the core concepts behind the development philosophy of the studio haven’t changed in response to this ambition.
“We work [in a] new universe, futuristic universe. We believe it’s very appealing to players, not only RPG players—but this is [a] true RPG, like Witcher, like Witcher 3, for mature audiences. It’s handcrafted, detailed, of course, open-world, with open-ended gameplay,” he said.
Based on recent intel, we’re led to believe that the game is going to be showcased for the first time after the original teaser at Sony’s E3 2018 press conference. We’d expect a first glimpse at the gameplay as well.
