Massive Entertainment is leading the development work on The Division 2 in collaboration with 5 other Ubisoft Studios – Ubisoft Reflections, Red Storm Entertainment, Ubisoft Annecy, Ubisoft Shanghai and Ubisoft Bucharest.
The next project that Ubisoft and Massive Entertainment are working on is Tom Clancy’s The Division, a sequel to 2016’s online-only RPG game Tom Clancy’s The Division. The development will be led by Massive Entertainment in collaboration with 5 other Ubisoft divisions: Ubisoft Reflections, Red Storm Entertainment, Ubisoft Annecy, Ubisoft Shanghai and Ubisoft Bucharest.
According to the details revealed by the Julian Gerighty, Creative Director at Massive Entertainment, Tom Clancy’s The Division 2 will be powered by an updated version of the Snowdrop Engine that will enable the development team to realize their ambitions for the sequel. Julian went on to assured The Division community: “we’re also taking everything we learned over the past two years and applying it towards the sequel to make sure we get it right.”
“We’re thrilled to announce that we are working on Tom Clancy’s The Division 2 and that development will be led by Massive Entertainment in collaboration with Ubisoft Reflections, Red Storm Entertainment, Ubisoft Annecy, Ubisoft Shanghai and Ubisoft Bucharest. The Division 2 will be powered by an updated version of the Snowdrop engine that enables us to realize our ambitions for the sequel, but more importantly, we’re also taking everything we learned over the past two years and applying it towards the sequel to make sure we get it right. Part of that means recognizing your commitment to The Division. With that in mind, we’re adding a new type of achievement called “Shields” to the game. Earning them will unlock special rewards in The Division 2 when it launches.”
This statement of Julian put forward an interesting picture in front of us – The Division 2 is bigger in terms of scale and size as compared to the first game, Massive Entertainment will have to put an extra effort to realize their ambition for the sequel. With The Division, Massive Entertainment did an amazing job, right from the Day One of the till today – they have supported the game with amazing post-launch content. The same treatment can be expected for the sequel.
In another news, Julian revealed that Tom Clancy’s The Division will soon receive a new title update that will bring new Global Events, Xbox One X enhancements, and many more things.
