Digital Foundry’s tech analysis report on Dark Souls Remastered for Nintendo Switch is out and it reveals that the game runs at 2.8X more resolution as compared to the original game.
Digital Foundry has issued a tech analysis of Dark Souls Remastered for Nintendo Switch, which is based on the very short footage released on the occasion of last week’s Nintendo Direct.
In its tech analysis, DF confirms what Bandai Namco and From Software have said previously. Dark Souls: Remastered will indeed run at 1080p docked (and 720p in portable mode). On the whole, it’s a 2.8x increase over the last-gen versions of the game.
For what matters frame rate, early indications are that there could be some drops, though we’ll have to wait until the final release to know for sure. The same goes for frame pacing, even though there’s a huge change the game is set to improve upon the original’s base.
Interestingly, in comparison with the original game, assets have remained untouched, but it is worth noting that ambient occlusion has been added or at least tweaked to fully deploy the additional power of the console.
You can watch the entire analysis in the video below. Of course, considering there are still a few months ahead of May 25 release, so there’s still plenty of time to fix and appoint changes to the build we’re checking today. Also, note that From Software is not the developer behind Nintendo Switch version of Dark Souls Remastered, Virtuous is working on the port.
