God of War is almost here, as it has already reached the Gold stage in its development process and will be released on April 20, but there’s a lot of stuff we don’t even know anything about now. For example, what’s going to happen once we finish the main adventure?

Cory Barlog, creative director at Santa Monica Studio, discussed the matter both in a recent interview and on Twitter, providing the first details about how things will shape up at the end of the journey with Kratos and his son Atreus.

God of War Ending & New Game Plus Mode

First of all, there won’t be a proper New Game Plus mode, but the endgame will be in place and there will be “something a little different” that will allow us to keep playing even after the main adventure ends.

“We have something a little different. It’s more like keep playing when you finish because there is so much stuff we put in beyond the main journey!,” Barlog said answering the questions of his followers.

But how will the game end, without any possible spoilers? Considering it’s the beginning of a new journey in the mythology of Kratos, there’s the possibility the adventure ends with a cliffhanger, although, talking with Daily Star, the creative director was a bit vague about this topic:

“It’s both,” he commented about if the game is going to end on a cliffhanger or on a resolute finale. “So you get a bit of that and you also get the natural feeling of a conclusion to the game’s story. And then, like I said, I have never in anything I’ve ever worked on put as many secrets in a game as now. They’re literally everywhere.”

God of War drops on April 20, so it won’t take that much for all of us to discover. In the meantime check out this God of War PS4 – 2017 vs 2018 Graphics Comparison screenshot which gave birth to the graphics downgrade rumor but was later clarified by the member of the development team.
