Dark Souls Remastered has gone through a massive change in terms of graphics and gameplay on PC, PS4, and Xbox One. Few of these changes were leaked on the internet via PowerUp Gaming’s Dark Souls Remastered preview.
According to a feature from Power Up!, we have now a chance to look at some reportedly leaked details about gameplay and graphics in the upcoming Dark Souls Remastered for PC, PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch.
First, graphics. As you know, the title is going to run at 60 frames per second on PC, PS4, and Xbox One, and this means a huge improvement upon the original 30fps with stuttering.
In particular, it is mentioned that “the PS4 Pro version of the game didn’t stutter once when visiting Blighttown, which was a notorious framerate killer on PS3.” The frame rate is also said to be changing the experience overall, similarly to what happened with the Scholar of the First Sin DS2 remaster.
Graphics are also said to be featuring new VFX, such as atmospheric effects in Londo Ruins and Darkroot Garden that massively improve upon the original’s visuals on PC, PS4 and Xbox One.
Gameplay has changed when it came to a few aspects of the core mechanics to reflect what the development team achieved on the sequels while retaining some of the characteristics that made it so difficult to face and less action game-like.
Foremost, the jump is said to be possibly “mapped to L3,” reflecting the evolution in the more recent Dark Souls II and III. Differently from the pair, though, unlike the sequels, Dark Souls Remastered won’t feature omnidirectional rolling.
