EA Vancouver Focusing On “Single-Player Narrative” For Former Visceral Games’ Star Wars

This article is over 6 years old and may contain outdated information

We all remember what happened to Visceral Games and to its single-player Star Wars action adventure title, so it’s still painful to talk about it and see what’s happening at Electronic Arts on the base of that game.

We all remember what happened to Visceral Games and to its single-player Star Wars action adventure title, so it’s still painful to talk about it and see what’s happening at Electronic Arts on the base of that game.

Anyway, it looks like this time around there’s something positive to discuss, not just another post mortem or behind the scene detail that adds on top of what we’ve already been told by multiple sources (especially about EA’s idea of single-player experiences).

EA Vancouver Focusing On "Single-Player Narrative"

As you might recall, EA Vancouver has been put in charge of a new project that is going to use the assets created thus far at Visceral Games. From the looks of it, it seemed that Electronic Arts wanted to shift the game to a GaaS in the likes of Anthem.

Interestingly, a new job listing is apparently suggesting that there could be something more. Indeed, EA Vancouver is seeking a lead online designer who is going to be providing “single-player narrative and gameplay.”

While he’s still a lead online designer, so a position that is going to mainly care about what an online game usually provides players with, it’s at least reassuring that the studio is being given some degree of creative freedom to explore single-player possibilities.

With Respawn’s Star Wars third person action game by God of War III’s director in the making, anyway, it’s unlikely Electronic Arts will let more details slip soon, so we’ll need to be very patient on this after the cancellation of the original title which was being crafted at Visceral.

EA Play is slated on June 9, so we’ll learn more about the further development of the Star Wars franchise at the developer and publisher.
