In an effort to offer a faithful proposition of Ancient Greece, Ubisoft has confirmed Assassin’s Creed Odyssey is going to be played by a lot of Greek actors or actors who have Greek ancestry.
That was quite clear back in the days of the E3 2018 when the Assassin’s Creed Odyssey was showcased for the first time, by just listening to the characters’ voice who simply didn’t sound like they were Americans or whatever.
“What we tried to do was look for actors who are Greek or have Greek ancestry,” audio director Lydia Andrew told VG247.com during E3. “We really felt like it was a nice opportunity for us to have a deep dive into the culture of Greece and obviously Ancient Greece.
“You can have a great actor who’s great at accents, and that’s fantastic, but you can also find great Greek actors and work with them too.”
Hopefully, it’ll be better than when Ubisoft introduced Americans speaking Italian in Assassin’s Creed II, which was a quite embarrassing moment for the franchise and the video games in general.
Assassin’s Creed Odyssey is releasing on October 5, 2018, for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
