Few hours ago we reported about the supposed lack of Xbox Play Anywhere support for the much anticipated Halo Infinite, something that arose after looking at the Xbox.com website’s official page of the game.

Quite surprisingly, Microsoft has issued a comment when asked about the topic by the guys at GameSpot, and confirmed that the plans about Xbox Play Anywhere for the 343 Industries title are still developing.

“Halo Infinite is in development for both the Xbox and Windows 10 PC. The studio is taking the time needed to make the best Halo game possible and are we will share more information about the game once we’re ready,” a Microsoft spokesperson told GameSpot.

Considering this is the first Halo PC game since the times of Halo 2, it’s possible that the platform holder might be thinking at ways to further monetize upon the launch of such anticipated game.

On top of that, Halo doesn’t really need a marketing push nor one in terms of sales, especially looking again at how much anticipated the return of the series on PC is.

With that said, we don’t know whether this could be justified by technical reasons, like the new engine Slipspace could hide some hurdles when it comes to managing cross-saves, cross-play and all the things between PC and consoles.

It would weird if you consider it’s a new engine by a Microsoft studio, but at this stage we can’t really tell. Sure enough, the lack of the Xbox Play Anywhere logo on the official website wasn’t a mistake and that wasn’t something we were anticipating.
