You might’ve heard of the issue on PlayStation 4 with messages coming from strangers bricking the consoles for some reason. Well, Sony’s heard too and is actively working to fix the issue.
The situation is not very clear yet, though, as PlayStation UK claimed it had fixed the problem in the first place and it didn’t even have the consoles bricking, just putting them in a sort of loop you could get out of thanks to the mobile app.
“We’ve since fixed the issue, and it wasn’t bricking consoles, just sending them into a crash loop that can be quickly fixed in under 5 minutes,” says an Ask PlayStation UK tweet.
“Delete the message on the PS mobile app, go into Safe Mode, use Option 5, console back to normal. ^DB”
Anyway, Sony had issued an email over to VG247, in order to address the fact that, well, the issue hadn’t been fixed after all and is so severe it will require a brand new system update.

“We are aware of the situation and are planning a system software update to resolve this problem,” the Japanese platform owner told the site via an email, thus we learn that the process of fixing it is still moving.
We’ll update you as soon as the update itself gets released.
