Hello Games has announced the first major content update for No Man’s Sky since the release of Next this August for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One – The Abyss.

While we don’t have any detail about the expansion, it’s been told quite clearly that the content will be about this specific season of the year and in particular Halloween.

No Man's Sky The Abyss Update Announced, Coming Next Week

It’s releasing at some point next week.

“We’ve been listening intently, and are hard at work on fixes and improvements. We wanted to share a little news from behind the scenes.

Whilst most of the team have been busy on weekly updates, a handful have been working on something else, our first titled update since NEXT,” has revealed game creator Sean Murray.

“A new free update is releasing next week for all players. We’ve called it The Abyss, because it focuses on some of the eerier elements of No Man’s Sky, in keeping with the theme of this season.

This is another small step on a longer journey for us.”

It’ll be interesting to see whether this update has some long lasting effects on the title or it’ll be a ‘simple’ content tailored for the season it’s dropping into.
