The latest update for Red Dead Redemption II’s online features brand new things for players to jump into
There’s new content on the way to Red Dead Redemption 2’s online beta in the form of a new update, Rockstar announced. The update includes new challenges, weapons, clothing, and modes to play in the open world. All of this is set to release on Feb. 26.
One of the modes coming with this update is Fool’s Gold, and it’s a free roam event. In it, players carry a set of what looks like knight’s armor made out of gold. The longer they wear it, the more points they receive. It’s up to other players to take down the one wearing the armor and claim it for themselves. The one with the most points wins.
Three new Showdown modes are also on the way called Up in Smoke, Spoils of War, and Plunder. Rockstar did not provide any details for these in their official update but plan to share further information later on.
For those looking for some relaxing, cutthroat fishing, this is the update for you. Competitive fishing challenges are on the way where players can opt-in to face off against other players in staged competitions. When players load in, they should have the equipment they need to lure in the largest catch of the lake. This equipment changes based on the competitive fishing challenge they enter. While in this competition players are immune from taking any damage and can’t be killed by other players. The one who catches the most massive fish wins.
Lastly, players will have access to a range of new clothing to wear, emotes to use to communicate to new players, and can purchase a new rare shotgun and the Evans Repeater rifle from B.D. and Co.
The new update launches on Feb. 26.
