Most analysts think the next-generation will kick-off by the end of 2020, but it looks like there’s someone who believes we’ll stick to the current-gen a bit longer.
According to Yasuo Imanaka, of Rakuten Securities, PlayStation 5 won’t indeed launch until Sony’s financial year 2021-22.
This means that the console would be dropping between April 2021 and March 2022, which would likely suggest a November 2021 launch.
It’s quite uncommon to read such statements since almost anyone thinks next-gen consoles, like Xbox Scarlett, are dropping way sooner.
There was even someone, at a certain point last year, who were convinced Sony and Microsoft could be releasing their newest platforms in 2019.
Now that this chance has been ruled out, it looks like platform owners could still get some time in order to do thinks better.
We still believe 2020 will be the year, but to have a better understanding of the situation we’ll have to wait and see what happens at E3 in June.
Over there, we’ll fully understand what Microsoft is cooking and how much time it’ll need in order to launch its next console.
Then, Sony will follow.
