Quite surprisingly, 343 Industries has announced that Halo: The Master Chief Collection is not supporting Xbox Play Anywhere.

This means that, even though you already have the six-games pack on Xbox One, you will be required to re-purchase it in order to play on PC.

“One of the questions we’ve gotten is will MCC PC support Xbox Play Anywhere, and first off I want to say we so appreciate all of the support we’ve had from the Xbox One community with MCC and we’re obviously bringing Reach to MCC,” studio head Bonnie Ross said.

“While MCC shipped before the XPA Play Anywhere, we are exploring ways to make sure that we show our appreciation and recognition for the support we’ve had from the amazing fans on MCC and we’ll have more to announce as we get closer to launch.”

So, at this stage it doesn’t really look like a final decision has been made on the matter, at least when it comes to deciding how to replace the Xbox Play Anywhere offering for the game.

It’s worth noting that Microsoft delivered free Microsoft Store codes for Quantum Break once the title released only because it was launched after the XPA announcement, so that kind of solution could fit rather well at least on one or several games in the collection.

Halo: The Master Chief Collection is dropping on Steam and Microsoft Store later this year.
