Battle Royale has been the most trending genre out there for a long while now, and many series, such as Call of Duty and Battlefield, have joined it quite successfully.
Anyway, it doesn’t seem that the next iteration of Activision’s shooter, which reports believe is set to be Modern Warfare 4, will feature it.
Based on information gathered by website Gaming Intel, indeed, Infinity Ward is ditching battle royale even if Black Ops 4 has just introduced Blackout.
A previous rumor stated instead that the game was going to have it, on a snow map more precisely, which would’ve been slightly different from Blackout.
Anyway, it doesn’t seem like this is going to happen, since IW would be more focused on the classic structure of the Call of Duty series: story campaign, co-op and multiplayer.
As for the multiplayer, the mode would even be ditching Call of Duty: Black Ops 4’s Specialists, in favor of more classic standard characters.
That would work for a more realistic warfare game, like Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4‘s supposed to be, at least if you’re a fan of the franchise.
We’ll learn more later this year, around May, with a launch which should be coming around late October or early November.
