Cross-play has been the talk of the town for quite a long while, and probably there’s still a lot of work to do in order to have bigger games implementing it.
Indeed, while the infrastructure to make it work is there, it seems like AAA publishers are still not entirely convinced about it.
Only smaller publishers and developers have been vocal about it, like Fortnite and Rocket League, probably to have a bigger audience and keep their titles alive longer.
One of the latest passing on this opportunity is Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled, which is releasing on June 21 for PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch.
According to developer Beenox, cross-play is not in the cards at this moment, meaning that we’ll never get to play with friends on other platforms.
“At the moment there’s no plan for cross-play at this time,” said Co-Studio Head, Thomas Wilson in an interview with Stevivor.
That’s a bit disappointing, but we can’t say we didn’t see it coming since Activision has many multiplayer games out there and none of them supports cross-play (Black Ops 4’s battle royale included).
Maybe in the future?
