Due to the turbulence happening behind the scenes at BioWare, not many developers know what Dragon Age 4 is going to look like
BioWare’s streak of rocky game development continues as new reports come out from the company about the state of Dragon Age 4.
The latest game to come from the franchise, Dragon Age: Inquisition, released at the end of 2014, and it was only during 2018’s Game Awards event that we received any information about the next game. However, even the teaser EA showed was brief, not giving any details about gameplay or story other than a cryptic hashtag of #TheDreadWolfRises.
Given the expert reporting by Kotaku’s Jason Schreier on the conditions of BioWare’s latest game, Anthem broke several teams of people. You can read Schreier’s previous report on BioWare’s working conditions here. However, earlier today Schreier Tweeted this out after posting about Dragon Age 4’s current state.
Please do keep in mind that nobody, including the team behind Dragon Age 4, knows what Dragon Age 4 will ultimately look like. It’s changing every day, and the negative reception to Anthem (plus EA’s awful recent track record) might have a very real impact.

This information does not bode well for Dragon Age fans, as Anthem continues to have hiccups, a month after its release.
BioWare could take what they’re learning about Anthem and apply it to their next game. However, given it’s been nearly five years since the last Dragon Age game, do they have time to adjust this dramatically? Can they provide the optimal amount of changes, without putting another layer of overbearing stress and anxiety to their current team?
As more past and present BioWare employees break their silence about the working conditions, it could hint that the so-called “BioWare magic” is beginning to fade.
We’ll share more details as we learn them and see what BioWare plans to share regarding Dragon Age 4’s production process. For now, check out the Dragon Age 4 teaser trailer that was shown at last year’s Game Awards event.
