Fans Can Name A New Pokémon Move In Sword And Shield

The Japanese magazine, CoroCoro, is having a contest for fans to decide the name for a new move in Pokemon Sword and Shield.

Game Freak is having a contest to have fans name a Pokémon move in the upcoming titles, Sword and Shield.

CoroCoro Comic is a Japanese monthly magazine, where all kinds of video game news are unveiled. According to Serebii.net, based on translations for the upcoming CoroCoro issue, there will be a contest held by the magazine.

The contest is to come up the best name for a new move in Pokémon Sword and Shield. The contest seems to be open only to Japanese residents.

Entries cannot be longer than eight characters, and only Katakana, Hiragana or English characters can be used in the contest. The winner will receive a copy of both Pokémon Sword and Shield, while the twenty runner ups are only given one copy of either Sword or Shield. Contestants have up till May 10 to send their entries.

The description of the move goes like this –

  • Type: Steel
  • Category: Special
  • Power: 140
  • Effect: Does major damage but reduces user’s Hit Points by 50%

Pokémon Sword and Shield are the eight generations of Pokémon games and are slated to release in late 2019.
