After spending so many years in development hiatus, Final Fantasy VII Remake could be making a big comeback at E3 2019
While Square Enix has yet to reveal plans for that and its E3 2019 presence at all, we could have first details hinting at a reveal in that occasion.
The publisher and developer have indeed announced that Final Fantasy VII: A Symphonic Reunion will be hosted at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles on June 9.
The location and the date fit well on E3 2019, which will be in Los Angeles from June 11 to June 14, with media briefings popping up from June 9 (Microsoft and Bethesda will kick it off, and others will follow).
The concert will be powered by a 100-strong orchestra, which will play some of the most famous songs from the OST written initially and executed by Nobuo Uematsu.
In what will be a “special evening of treasured memories, and intense and deep emotions,” as described by Square Enix, there will also be a stage with a giant projection screen running some of the most touching scenes from the game.
Again, nothing’s confirmed as of now, but it would be slightly weird to see Square setting up such a thing without having the intention to start talking about Final Fantasy VII Remake again at E3.
Sure enough, the main issue with the reveal is that Sony won’t be hosting a media briefing this year, so it’ll have to do everything on its own, whether it is in another platform holder’s press conference or its own Nintendo Direct-like live stream (a solution the publisher chose in 2018).
Square has also said months ago that it would start discussing FF7 once Kingdom Hearts III had shipped, and it has done that in January.
Final Fantasy VII Remake has been announced as a PlayStation 4 timed-exclusive, even though we don’t know whether the deal is still in place or not after so many years from the original announcement.
Hopefully, we’ll learn more about that in a few weeks.
