If you have been eagerly awaiting news about the upcoming Bloodborne: The Board Game, then it has finally arrived. A trailer has dropped, and the date the Kickstarter campaign launches has been confirmed.
Bloodborne: The Board Game, the tabletop tie into the highly regarded From Software game, finally has some concrete details. If like me, you are a fan of the world of tabletop gaming, you will have seen snippets of information and pictures over the months, but we finally have some juicy details. The Kickstarter campaign will launch on April 23, at 3 pm EST. We also have a trailer to watch, which is especially nice as it shows the full game contents.
Michael Shinall and Eric M. Lang design Bloodborne: The Board Game. It is my understanding that Lang’s involvement is more supervisory, and Shinall has handled the bulk of the design work. Tabletop players will recognize CMON, the company behind the game, from titles such as Zombicide, and the Song of Ice and Fire miniature game. Shinall was also involved with the development of Rising Sun, which Lang designed.
The two have a great pedigree and have done some excellent work together in the past, so there are a lot of reasons to feel hopeful about this particular video game tie-in. The game seems to be built around the old staple of modular tiles that allow different maps to be generated each time, and there appear to be four player characters included, and ten enemies. It is hard to guess as to how the system will play out, but the trailer does give the strong impression that dice rolling will be quite minimal, which the designers stated was an intention of theirs.
I’m pretty excited about this one, as a fan of the video game, board games in general, and painting small miniature Hunters in particular. I’ll be sure to bring you more news as it breaks.
