Risk of Rain 2 developers Hopoo Games have revealed their planned Early Access forecast for the game. Read on to find out what the roadmap contains, and what new content will be coming to the game.
Risk of Rain 2 has been the surprise success of the season, and developers Hopoo Games are hard at work to bring the game through Early Access to full release. Today, they have unveiled their Early Access Forecast for the game. The roadmap covers from June of this year until the game’s eventual full launch in Spring of next year. According to Paul Morse, co-founder of Hopoo Games, they really want to try and keep the development process as transparent as possible, so people know what to expect over the next year.
It is really important for us to have transparency with our amazing early access community. We are sharing this forecast so players know what to look forward to and what the team is working towards in making Risk of Rain 2 the best game of its kind. That’s only possible with the input and feedback we get from our players.
In the coming months, we can expect new stages, bosses, items, and survivors. Localization work is also being done, and the Summer and Winter updates will see the introduction of Skill 2.0, and Artifacts 2.0 respectively. As I had already predicted, the final boss and level will arrive with the games 1.0 Launch in Spring 2020. This makes much sense, and shouldn’t be that much of a surprise.
Risk of Rain 2 has been a surprise hit for Hopoo Games, while the original Risk of Rain was certainly a great game, with a passionate and dedicated community, and 3 million units sold, this new installment really seems to have captured the attention of people all over the world. Duncan Drummond, Hopoo Games co-founder, also wants to make it very clear that the Roadmap does not mean the community should stop providing feedback.
Thank you all so much for the amazing support over the first month! We hope that the Roadmap meets our community’s expectations. It’s intended to be an active part of development and we’ll continue to keep our ears open to community feedback across Discord, Twitter and everywhere else. We are also really excited to support our international fans, and we hope that the localization efforts are a good start.
If I am completely honest, getting to play games for a living is a pretty swell job, but sometimes games are just so much fun it doesn’t even feel like you are working at all. Risk of Rain 2 has absolutely been one of those games for me. As a fan, this Roadmap makes me very happy. I feel like the new content is introduced at a solid but realistic pace, I’m very excited to see what happens with Skill 2.0, and I really can’t wait to get to that 1.0 Launch and take on the final boss.
