We received more details about the new Dragon Ball Z RPG game during Microsoft’s E3 conference.

We have a name for the game, which is Dragon Ball Z Kakarot, and a tentative release date of early 2020. There’s no solid release date at this time, and we received only a handful of cutscenes of the story.

The story covers the first part of the main character’s story, Goku, where he battles the two Saiyans, Nappa and Vegeta, on Earth, and then his journey to Namek where he faces off against Frieza. We see Goku turning into a Super Saiyan for the first time.

We know that the game engine is going to be similar to the one used for Dragon Ball Fighter Z, which was a massive success during the first part of 2018. The combat might be similar, but because this game is going to be more of an RPG title, it might have a modified method for fighting.

Given what we can see from the trailer, it’s likely we’re only going to see the earliest parts of Goku’s journey. Hopefully, as we learn more, they announce how far into the anime story the game will go. For example, the developers could decide to stop at the Frieza saga, or they may choose to go all the way into Android and Cell storylines.

For now, we don’t know for certain. Dragon Ball Z Kakarot still has plenty of time as the game is set to release sometime in 2020.
