Between EA Play and E3 2019 we’ve had the chance to look at the first gameplay of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. The game was rather linear in its first showcase, then had the opportunity to show some more of its metroidvania feeling in the extended video that was unleashed just a few days ago.
Between EA Play and E3 2019, we’ve had the chance to get a better look at the gameplay of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. The demo showed the game as a linear experience in its first showcase. However, we later had the opportunity to see more of its Metroidvania feeling in the extended video that released last week.
Based on the second gameplay video, a more engaged fan shared their feedback on the lightsaber, and they pointed out something different feel right with the traditional Jedi weapon. Respawn Entertainment has since worked very hard to comprehend what it was, and they figured it out.
“We made a mistake on that one, and since then have fixed it,” game director Stig Asmussen told Game Informer, talking about the bright white light at the center of the lightsaber. Supporters at EA Play instantly noted it and asked the developers to tune it in the final version of the game.
“That was fair feedback and criticism. We’ve tweaked [the light], and also tweaked the shape of the lightsaber blade a little. You can see the difference right away,” Asmussen added, thanking people who had noted it in the first showcase.
It’s slightly weird that employees at LucasFilm, who are said to be extremely careful about how the franchise of Star Wars gets handled with these partnerships, didn’t notice it right away. Respawn had to receive feedback from fans to understand they did something wrong. Regardless, it all ended up well, and hopefully, there won’t be other things fans can’t get to see before the release that needs another fix.
Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order releases on November 15, 2019, for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
