Electronic Arts confirmed in a call with investors and analysts regarding Q1 FY 2019 the next title in the Need for Speed series is going to get revealed at Gamescom. The event is set to happen in Koln, Germany, from Aug. 20 to 24.

Ghost Games had revealed a few weeks before the event that Need for Speed wouldn’t be joining Electronic Arts’ pre-E3 2019 EA Play. But the no-show wouldn’t mean a delay for the title. EA are still panning for a 2019 release date for the racing game.

EA later stated that it is planning for Need for Speed and Plants vs. Garden Warfare 3 releases before the end of 2019. All of it seems rather unusual if you consider we’re already in July and that marketing only has three to four months to excite fans regarding the launch.

However, during the call, CEO Andrew Wilson said the yet to be named arcade racing game would make its debut “heading into Gamescom in a few weeks.” Eurogamer shared these details. So there’s a chance to watch not only a reveal teaser trailer but also some proper gameplay over there.

It’s worth noting that only a few hours ago we reported about a leak from an Austrian retailer which has posted the product Need for Speed Heat in its listings. That’s most likely going to be the name of the next game after 2015’s Need for Speed and 2017’s Need for Speed Payback.
